Show time!

In presenting its all-electric sports limousine which finds its spot in the upper mid-sized class, Volkswagen has much to celebrate with this ID.X Performance car, which is solely a concept and not for sale. Impressive and powerful thanks to all-wheel-drive and performance-oriented suspension, this concept, which takes the ID.7 electric sedan and adds a lowered suspension, also boasts an all-out expressive appearance. With a plethora of sport features both inside and out, this concept is surely turning heads!

Here’s more….

Its look!

Intense and expressive, the look of this Concept is rooted in a dynamic appearance. This begins with the exterior of the all-electric limousine, which features a wide array of sporty features including the front splitter and rear diffuser — both made of carbon. Handling is all-out agile thanks to an increase in toe by 80 millimeters and a lowered sports suspension by 60 millimeters. The ID.X Concept sits atop 20-inch sports alloy wheels with a central lock and size 265 racing tyres. A carbon wing marks the rear, and tinted tail light clusters bring forth a sporty appearance.

The interior features carbon bucket seats, which provide optimal support, as well as red accents throughout which add to its sportiness. There are also aggressively bolstered front seats!

Its power!

The ID.X, a performance show car, features a powerful dual-motor drive with 411 kW (558 PS) and boost function. Within the ID.X Performance Show Car, VW had gone that extra step, supplementing the permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle with an additional asynchronous motor on the front axle, making total power stand at 550bhp. The result — all-wheel drive — which comes with a wide array of advantages. Those include short-time overload capability and particularly low drag losses. Within the ID.X, drive torque is controlled via a Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which also serves to manage the operation of the rear axle differential lock in ID.X Performance. There is no word yet on the 0-62 mph but it is expected to be downright fast!

Energy is brought forth through the drive battery, which permits high continuous power output and short charging times. It has a charging capacity of up to 200 kW.

Where it’s unveiled!

VW plans to unveil the ID.X Performance at the international ID. Treffen, which will take place in Locarno this month. At this event, the Volkswagen brand team will be present with a number of experts and will give insights into current developments linked to electric mobility.

“The MEB (platform) offers many fantastic possibilities for approaching vehicle development with a great deal of creativity,” VW’s MEB Platform tech boss Andreas Reckewerth said. “It was clear to us that we wanted to base our new show car on the ID.7 and that we would focus on enhancing the performance. In this way, we can show what is possible.”

While this concept will not reach production, a future ID.7 performance car just might! With dynamic overall appearance thanks to a plethora of sporty features and its all-wheel-drive vision of an all-electric sports limousine, this concept with 411 kW (558 PS) is turning heads. Fast and furious and all-out exciting, this concept meets electric vehicle enthusiasts where they are! It’s show time
