Next-gen overhaul!

A much-needed touch of European flair is found in this compact SUV – with the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan already turning heads. In what is a third-generation model, the Tiguan not only grows larger than its predecessor but boasts a fully revamped interior and exterior, with specific details forthcoming. With the offering of a next-generation powertrain as part of what is considered a dramatic update and with plenty of power under hood, the Tiguan for 2025 is your next best choice!

Here’s more…

What we know so far!

In the third-generation Tiguan, expected to arrive for the 2025 model year, VW’s MQB Evo platform is presented, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain is offered. With that powertrain, VW stands behind claims that the vehicle can travel as far as 62 miles in electric-only mode.

Drivers and passengers alike will also enjoy a fully revamped interior and exterior, as well as competitive pricing, with the new Tiguan starting at around $29,000 and reaching a maximum price tag of $45,000, depending on the trim and options.

While details are still somewhat under wrap, under hood, it is expected that this vehicle will feature a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four engine to serve as the base of power, while a more powerful plug-in hybrid is presented as an option. This engine will be paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which will likely handle gear shifts for both engine options with ease.

By comparison, in the last generation, the Tiguan used an 184-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter-inline-four with 221 lb-ft of torque, and front wheel drive was standard. That previous model launched to 60 mph in 9.1 seconds, with the new Tiguan expected to perform much better, especially in terms of highway passing strength.

A peek inside!

Comfort and ample cargo space is found within, with the new added length of this 2025 Tiguan resulting in a more practical compact crossover. This additional cargo space is a crowd pleaser for certain, with the Tiguan likely to remain as one of just a few options of the growing crossover segment that adds a third row.

Within the new Tiguan is also available power-adjustable massaging seats as well as a gear selector relocated on the steering column. This results in ample space in the center console. The second-row seats are a 60/40 split, allowing either one or two seats to remain available for passengers when additional cargo space is needed.

Speaking of seats, comfort abounds, with the backs arranged in a way that will reduce stress and spinal injury from those sitting on longer drives.

Technology within includes a new 15.0-inch infotainment touchscreen that serves as the command center for nearly all climate and entertainment functions. The new Tiguan just may include the 12.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as the base or standard equipment.

A digital gauge cluster is available for the driver, and LED mood lighting is found within, sprinkled liberally throughout the dashboard and food panels.

Other facts!

Arriving at dealers next year, the new Tiguan is chock full of fresh technology and new powertrains, while boasting bold new looks.

It is available for order in Europe with three powertrains: a 128-hp mild hybrid, a 148-hp mild hybrid and a turbo diesel.

Stylistically, the American Tiguan will resemble its European counterpart.

Up to 20-inch wheels are available, and the front and rear are bookended with hexagonal grilles and sleek full-length LED light bars.

The new Tiguan is presented with fully automatic remote parking, controlled via a smartphone app, as well as electronically controlled twin-valve shock absorbers, which work in concert with VW’s Vehicle Dynamics Manager.
