On the roll!

More attractive than ever before and more intelligent and efficient – that just about covers it when it comes to the all new Golf, revamped in this eighth-generation model and poised to roll off the assembly line at the Wolfsburg plant. Considered the heart and soul of the VW brand for centuries, this new Golf is back where it started – at the Wolfsburg plant, from where more than 37 million have been delivered worldwide since 1974. See what this new model has in store!

Here’s more…

What we know!

The new model planned to roll off the assembly line in Hall 12 today at Wolfsburg – exactly five decades since the first was ever built – will be dubbed the Gulf Style, promised to possess more efficiency, comfort and quality as well as boast a new operating concept.

“The Golf doesn’t get any better than this,” Thomas Schafer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, noted.

A new interior features an equally “new” generation of infotainment system which includes even faster processors, a free-standing touchscreen and an intuitive menu structure. Touch sliders for temp and volume control are now wonderfully illuminated, with the latest and greatest digital instruments presented as standard.

A multifunction steering wheel is also found within, complete with easy-to-use buttons and the IDA voice assistant with integrated ChatGPT function. That is used to control such functions as the air conditioning system, telephone or navigation system, as well as to access online information on just about anything and everything.

When it comes to powertrain range, the updated Golf is presented with two new plug-in hybrids that have an electric range of more than 100 km and a combined range of some 1,000 km, as well as feature a DC quick-charging function. These new hybrids are in addition to the already efficient TSI, TDI and eTSI mild hybrid drives.

It will feature a stunning anemone blue metallic paint, with the “classic” Golf truly an eye catcher. In addition to its color, the new model is easily recognizable by its modified front end and visually defining features like the newly-designed LED headlights. The VW logo on the radiator grille is also illuminated, with the IQ.Light-3D LED tail light clusters also receiving a new design both for the Golf and the Golf Variant.

Other facts!

In addition to this new model, the Wolfsburg Plant has yet another feather in its cap! Just a few days before the new Golf went into production, the factory marked the 48 millionth vehicle to leave the assembly line – no other automotive plant worldwide has come close to reaching that feat! And it is no surprise that that anniversary model was a – you guessed it – a Golf!

Considered the most-built model at the plant, with a production model of approximately 20 million vehicles, the Golf is followed by the Beetle, with nearly 12 million units produced in Wolfsburg between 1945 and 1975. The Tiguan follows in third place.

The connection between the Golf and Wolsburg is a notable one! “Wolfsburg is the Gulf, and the Gulf is Wolfsburg,” Plant Manager Rainer Fessel said. “As a team, we have meticulously planned the start of production over the past weeks and months. Now we are delighted we will soon be seeing the new Golf on the roads.”

Series production of the new Golf is under way, and the news is exciting to say the least! In sharp blue metallic and meeting any and all customer needs, this new Golf is not only easily recognizable, but will hit the road with top upgrades and technical enhancements.
