Badge of honor!

When it comes to that added boost in this first electric performance lineup, nothing speaks to power more than the GTX Performance Treatment given to the Volkswagen ID.4. Moving up the ranks to Volkswagen’s fastest EV, this new crossover and its branding is worth bragging about! With distinguishable changes in the form of style to GTX badging throughout, see what this stand out has to offer!

Here’s more….

Special touches/changes!

While much of the bodywork has remained the same in light of the GTX branding, distinguishable touches include a painted lower body cladding and gloss black roof rails, which replace the regular car’s shiny metal finish. There is also GTX badging on the tailgate and front fenders with unique shaped LED elements within the taillights. The vehicle’s front bumper also has the signature light in the air curtains, with illuminated door handles also an added touch as are dynamic turn signals and selectable animations.

The exterior look is also enhanced by the black roof characteristic of the ID.4, roof railing and the black, high-gloss air intake.

The GTX lettering can be found up front and on the boot with diffuser brace in metallic galvano grey.

The vehicle comes standard with 20-inch wheels, but 21-inchers are presented as an option.

Within the special GTX are interior changes in addition to what are key features in the existing model. Those include the addition of more red trim, a completely redesigned instrument cluster and some subtle GTX branding.

Also inside are red decorative seams on the dash panels and in the front doors, as well as on the GTX fabric seat.

Its power!

The ID.4 GTX will be presented with all-wheel drive thanks to an additional front-mounted electric motor. At the rear is the same 201-hp permanent-magnet motor as the existing ID.4 but is paired with a less powerful asynchronous motor up front, each driving their respective axles through a single-speed reduction drive. Output is set at 295 hp, similar to the output of the non-GTX all-wheel-drive version of the ID.4’s coming to the United States later this year.

Despite the GTX boost, performance is not outstanding by segment standards. To that end, a promised 6.2 second zero-to-60 mph time is about the same as the GTI-level of acceleration. As a result, the GTX, considered VW’s fastest EV, will be slower than the cheapest and least powerful Tesla. It will reach top speeds of 112 mph.

The battery for the GTX will be the same 77.0-kWh battery back found in the regular ID.4, with VW promising a range of 298 miles.

The motor’ s power is transmitted to all four wheels and activated by the exclusive “Traction” driving mode, which provides great grip and improved adaptive lane guidance when needed.

Tech updates

Gone are the buttons and switches, with the GTX allowing drivers to simply say “Hello ID.” and the system will do the rest. This allows control of the radio, the telephone or the optional navigation system. An optional augmented-deadly head-up display projects vital information directly into your field of view on the windscreen. Thanks to this feature, drivers see the navigation on the road precisely where they are driving along or where they need to turn off.

This vehicle is perfectly connected, thanks to “We Connect Start,” taking your vehicle online through its securely installed SIM card. Obtain with ease real-time information, charging stations with occupancy status, prices and opening times. By using the app, drivers can easily see such things as the vehicle’s remaining range, or even adjust the air conditioning if desired. Free for the first three years, stay connected with your vehicle no matter where you are!
