Dynamic duo!

With a major makeover, including upgrades inside and out, as well as enhanced technology, the VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport are all the buzz! Unveiled recently at the Chicago Air Show, the refreshed seven- and five-seaters are chock full of enhancements in the area of power, materials and design. Considered the first modern Volkswagen ever designed and produced especially for American buyers, the Atlas and Atlas Cross Support are a success story that has just gotten better!

Here’s more…

A peek inside!

Some of the most major improvements are celebrated within! While the vehicles for 2024 hold true to the same underpinnings of the outgoing models, drivers and passengers alike will enjoy upgrades in what is a truly spacious interior, chock full of premium materials throughout. That includes a leatherette-trimmed soft-touch dash and center console as well as front-row door trim and decor that flows seamlessly and luxuriously into the dash panel. The result — a truly upscale cockpit through and through! Also available within is ambient lighting with a whopping 30 color choices which pair with an innovative backlit dash decor. To elevate the interior even further, models for 2024 boast quilted leather seats and a diamond pattern.

Drivers also enjoy the comfort of a heated steering wheel with shift paddles, ventilated front seats and a height-adjustable passenger seat, all of which now come standard. There is also climate and voice control as well as a completely redesigned center console. Now available on a trim lower than past models is also leather seating and heated rear seats.

Exterior boost!

A new front end design and a greater differentiation between these two great models are among the exterior changes for the model year 2024. Both cars feature a wide chrome four-bar grille which is framed by LED headlights featuring the newly standard Adaptive Front-Lighting System. On all but base trims, there are Daytime Running Lights which wrap around the headlights and continue a sleek wrap around continuing into the illuminated light bar that sits atop an illuminated VW Logo. This gives these vehicles a distinct and luxurious look all their own! There is also a new front fascia with integrated air intakes with the Cross Sport models also featuring gloss-black grille details and a gloss-black “X” design element across the front fascia.

A larger spoiler rounds out the rear on both models, resulting in a longer roofline and thus a sleeker profile.

With the exception of the base trim, all of the models mirror the front lighting signature in the rear, including the illuminated VW logo between the LED taillights.

New wheel designs are also among the changes heading into 2024, ranging from 18 to 20 inches with machined alloy and black finishes made available.

Power packed!

Both vehicles in the Atlas family, for 2024, will be powered solely by a four-cylinder turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine, complete with 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The new engine provides power similar to the outgoing VR6 and is expected to provide even better fuel economy. Towing capacity is unchanged at 5,000 pounds and an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard. Also, VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is available across the model lineup.

Tech savvy!

Enhancements and advancements in the area of technology are realized within these two new models, resulting in an even more connected experience than ever before! This is brought forth in a 12-inch floating infotainment display which serves as an elegant focal point in what is now a redesigned cockpit, with drivers of every trim level benefiting from the fully configurable 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro. Achieving connectivity is easier than ever, with standard wireless App-Connect, wireless charging, and six USB-C ports (eight are available) with 45-watt fast charging. Also featured as part of the infotainment system is wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Speaking to technology is also the ability for Climate Control by Voice.

The price!

Set to go on sale later this year, specifically in the third quarter of 2023, the upgrades result in an increase in price, although the exact amount is not yet revealed. Given these upgrades, though, it is expected that the base price of $35,755 for the Cross Sport will increase as will the price tag of the three-row Atlas from its $36,455 cost.

Refreshed and more upscale — the list goes on when it comes to enhancements in 2024. From updated grills, headlamps, tail lamps and an illuminated front VW logo, the look and feel is outstanding. As if VW could not improve more, they have, both with the driver and passenger experience in these brand-new models. This dynamic duo received a makeover like no other — reserve yours today!
