From style cues like a redesigned grille and bumper to larger wheels and even greater technology, this VW has been revamped and rejuvenated heading into a new decade! This car offers practicality and a comfortable ride, with plenty of seating for driver and occupants. See how it has earned its bragging rights!

Here’s more…

All about style

The seven-seater Volkswagen Atlas had had every part changed when it comes to its design and style. It is now presented with a wide grille accented by three bright slats and sharper-looking headlights with LED inserts. The result is a more subtle rear end. A redesigned bumper is another new style cue and results in a vehicle that is 3 inches longer than it was in 2020. The car’s new look strives to be more aggressive than ever before. That is brought forth with black-accented outboard fascia vents and a faux front skid plate. The side cladding and rear bumper are also revised and match the new wheel designs, which are 18, 20, or 21 inches in diameter. This vehicle is also rounded out with LED headlights and integrated fog and cornering lights.

Inside, the outgoing model’s basic look was upgraded in numerous and fantastic ways. That includes a new steering wheel, emblazoned with the new Volkswagen logo, optional contrast stitching and more savvy technology.

Power packed

The four-cylinder Atlas is now available with all-wheel drive for the first time! The all-new Atlas comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 235 horsepower, and the optional 3.6-liter V6 that pumps 276 horses. For the new model, buyers can order the smaller engine with the company’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system. This is exciting news! In addition, front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission now comes standard. With the V6, the Atlas can tow an impressive 5,000 pounds. It also feels and sounds refined, transmitting not even a shiver into the cabin. This vehicle responds beautifully to steering inputs and never feels clumsy, but rather composed on the roadway. It brings forth a smooth ride and absorbs even the toughest potholes.

Tech savvy

With the exception of the entry-level S variant, every model comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that boldly displays the next generation of the Car-Net infotainment system. Inside, Wi-Fi is available for those drivers who pay a monthly data plan, and the software is compatible with an app that has been updated for the new 2021 model year. There will also be several digital subscription options to choose from. The all-new Atlas also boasts traffic jam assist and dynamic road sign display. These are two technologies inaugurated by the Cross Sport. They are among a growing list of electronic driving aids. Others include forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and a 360-degree view camera.

Room for all

The all-new Atlas has a interior space that is considered very family friendly, featuring a straightforward layout of controls, an overabundance of cupholders and a third row of seats. This means that the next road trip will be one rooted in comfort — and space — for all of the passengers. In fact, the new Atlas is able to accommodate all that an every day family can throw at it, with plenty of thoughtfully placed storage nooks that stash even the smallest of items. This vehicle can also fit four carry-on suitcases behind the third row of seats and 38 when the second and third rows were folded down.

Keeping connected

No matter the trim, the all-new Atlas comes extremely well-connected, with plenty of ways to keep the driver and passenger entertained. A touchscreen interface is intuitive and as responsive as your average Smartphone. Base S models have a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. There is also a Wi-Fi hotspot and a USB port. An infotainment display grows to 8.0 inches with the SE and SEL models, three additional USB ports, Sirius XM satellite radio and two additional speakers that bring forth an impressive volume!

Safety abounds

The 2021 Atlas comes with a wide variety of standard and optional driver-assistance technology, which is rooted in safety for both the driver and the vehicle’s passengers. Key safety features include standard forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking; standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as well as available adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology. Also, the traffic jam assist system that debuted on the Cross Sport is now available, as are existing optional features such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera.

With an update similar to that of the Atlas Cross Sport, a two-row version, the all new model is one with more presence, thanks to an overall facelift, more style and more technology. This car represents an evolution of the first car developed specifically with North America in mind, and is a refreshed version that came to be thanks to the recent launch of the Atlas Cross Sport five-seater variant. Changes are effective to say the least, while still representing familiar design cues linked to VW. The Atlas has proven its worth and in 2021 does so even more so! Revamped/rejuvenated/redesigned— see what the new decade brings! This version is set to hit the market in Spring!
