ALL in!

The news is out, but the lead time is long! A new entry-level electric crossover, the 2all SUV, considered the brother of the ID.2all hatchback, has been teased and is set to arrive in 2026, borrowing design cues from ID. Buzz. A jacked-up version of the electric hatchback revealed earlier this year, the 2ALL SUV has a single motor powering the front wheels, and this SUV boasts more than 260 miles of range.

What else we know!

The 2all SUV, with front-wheel-drive, could have an output of 226 hp. In terms of design, the vehicle will feature similar sleek LED headlights found in the hatchback as well as the same pointy nose. A full-width light bar will also be in place. From the side, the SUV will have a squared off rear end and sporty roof spoiler. Three line graphics similar to the ID.Buzz will also be present.

The SUV will be based on the same underpinnings as the hatchback, and in the area of speed, is expected to sprint from 0-60 mph in under 7.0 seconds. The European WLTP-rated range is around 279 miles, and charging time from 10 to 80 percent should take about 20 minutes.

In terms of the battery, there is no word yet, although the ID.2 hatchback can get up to 280 miles on a single charge. Considering this is a larger SUV, it is expected to get about 260 miles of range.

This all-new electric SUV, based on a newly developed MEB modular system, is slated to hit the pavement in 2026, with sales beginning at the end of that year.

A taller vehicle, the SUV’s added ground clearance and utilitarian appearance is expected to be of great appeal to customers. It will not look like any of its larger EV siblings, but instead boasts a silhouette similar to the low-slung concept version of the ID.2all, a familiar headlight design and rear roof spoiler.

The ID.2all is part of the brand’s EV push where it will debut 11 electric models by 2027. There have been several EV concepts previewed, including the ID.GTI concept that will arrive in 2027 as an electric hot hatch.

The SUV is planned to be manufactured alongside the ID.3 at Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg plant. It is likely to be related to the Skoda Elroq, which has been announced for 2025.

It is slightly unusual for such lead time with this announcement, but it may be related to the fact that the brand is in the midst of a radical change in the area of electromobility. There is also growing competition from China.

This is a means to turn VW into a “love brand,” according to brand boss Thomas Schafer. That translates into making the brand emotional again and hark back to days of long ago. To that end the ID.2all had digital instruments that could also display the speedometers of the Beetle and the first Golf.

While the wait may seem long, the finished product should be well worth it! An all-electric SUV with approximately 260 miles of range and a design that is sure to turn heads, the the ID.2all has it all and is All in! Keep your eyes out for it
