Anniversary-worthy!
Cosmetic changes mark the 40th Edition, including special exterior paint like Pure Gray, Pure White or Rising Blue, as well as blacked-out trim that sharply contrasts the red accents and 18-inch wheels in black. Black mirror caps, door handles and a black grille make for a sleek exterior style.
Within the celebratory vehicle are clear signs marking the anniversary, including embossed molecular cloth seats, a special, unique touch, as well as cupholders boasting the engraved GLI logo in one and “1984” in the other. Overall, the inside is chock full of 40th anniversary badging!
Also paying homage to the 40 years are seat tags and front door sills with the “GLI 40” and the steering wheel with a “40” at the six o’clock position.
The 40th Anniversary Edition is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged EA888 I-4 as the current GLI Autobahn, which makes 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The special edition vehicle is available in both six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
It is presented with the same equipment as standard on the GLI, with the special Jetta exclusive to the North American market starting at $29,235 for the manual transmission model and $30,035 for the DSG transmission model. This represents a decrease from the 2023 GLI, which only comes in the fully loaded Autobahn trim.
Key performance content that makes up the 40th edition Jetta includes larger brakes, a Sport HMI performance monitor, VAQ electronically-controlled torque-sensing limited-slip differential and XDS electronic differential lock, the DCC adaptive damping system and a sport exhaust.
Embodying the goal of delivering an accessible German performance sedan, the 40th anniversary Jetta will be arriving at dealerships later this summer.
