3 Breweries in Akron | Volkswagen of AkronLocated south of Cleveland, Akron offers plenty of places for residents and visitors to enjoy a cool brew. If you are looking for something fun and interesting to do, plan a visit to a few of the area’s top-rated breweries.

  1. Hoppin’ Frog Brewery

Hoppin’ Frog Brewery first opened its doors in 2006 and has built a reputation for customer satisfaction with its variety of flavorful, high-quality beers. Distributed in over 22 states and 38 countries, Hoppin’ Frog Brewery’s popularity continues to grow.

The brewery opened its tasting room in 2013 where guests can enjoy select beers paired with delicious seasonal food. Indulge your taste buds with soup, chili, sandwiches, artisan cheeses and meats, Bavarian pretzels, and pulled pork nachos. Try one of the 24 beers on tap, or choose something from the rare beer list.

As the winner of several awards from The World Beer Cup and The International Beer Fest, this brewery is definitely worth visiting. Stop by during “hoppy hour” which takes place Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. Enjoy beer specials, and discover the tantalizing taste of craft beers.

Brewery hours are 5 to 10 p.m. on Monday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

  1. Wadsworth Brewing Company

Family owned and operated, Wadsworth Brewing Company is just 20 minutes from Akron in Wadsworth’s historic downtown district. It specializes in craft beer brewed with local ingredients and spices and is available on tap for your tasting pleasure. Sit back and relax with one of the specialties such as the Town One Rye IPA, the Hot to Trot English brown ale, the Two-Way Belgian Dubbel, or College Street. Savor the flavor of a barbecue pulled pork pizza paired with the Elijah Hopsworth American pale ale for an explosion of flavors you’re sure to enjoy.

Stop by Wednesday through Thursday from 3 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

  1. Magic City Brewing Co.

New to the Akron area, Magic City Brewing Co. opened its doors to the community in 2017. Located less than 15 minutes from Akron, this brewery provides a relaxing atmosphere, handcrafted beer, and live music on select nights. Additionally, local artists have their creative artwork on display. The vibe at Magic City is unfiltered, offering a laid-back experience.

While the brewery doesn’t offer food, guests are welcome to bring their own or have food delivered. On select nights, the food trucks make a visit so that you can stop by for a brew and choose from a bevy of menu options.

Magic City Brewing Co. is open Monday through Thursday 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday noon to midnight, and Sunday noon to 8 p.m.
