All things rugged personified — Building on perfection!

It is with excitement that Volkswagen announces a expansion of its Basecamp accessory line!

Targeted across Atlas Cross Sport models, the Basecamp accessories and the expansion follows what has been in place since 2020. Offered individually or as a complete Basecamp kit, these custom body-cladding elements, now available across three models, serve to create a more rugged overland look, desired by many of today’s drivers.

With the addition of the recently redesigned 2024 Atlas Cross Sport coupe-style midsize SUV, now three models, including the Atlas and Taos, take advantage of these accessories.

With this expansion, the line now includes custom body kit and unique wheels. These wheels, when equipped with all-terrain tires, help to add even more versatility to the already capable Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. The new components complement the adaptability of the Atlas family of vehicles.

Serving as the centerpiece are prominent fender flares, supported by matching front and rear bumper cladding and side skirts.

It is important to note that the body parts are not available for R-Line and Peak Edition models.

First coming on the scene in 2020, the Basecamp accessory line was developed from design elements of the Atlas Basecamp concept, which had been unveiled a year prior at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. The Basecamp styling package includes a two-tone textured black and satin silver front valance, textured matte black flares with integrated splashguards, satin silver side door rocker panels and satin silver rear glance with trailer hitch access.

The complete Atlas kit also comes with exclusive front quarter-panel-mounted Basecamp badges.

“As consumers and dealers continue to seek SUV’s with rugged appearance characteristics, we will continue to offer accessory options that allow them to further personalize their Volkswagen SUV,” Peter Danilovic, senior vice president of Product Marketing and Strategy at Volkswagen of America, said. “It made sense to expand the line to include Atlas Cross Sport alongside Atlas and the Taos Basecamp styling program.”

The full kit of Basecamp styling components for Atlas has an MSRP of $2,650 yet come available as an a la carte offering for those who desire individual components. That breakdown includes: front valance, $680; rear valance, $680; side door skid plates, $769; and fender flares at $645. These individual prices are the same for the individual parts for the regular Atlas, but for whatever reason, the complete regular Atlas kit is discounted at $2,650.

Both accessory lines also come equipped with the unique 17-inch TraverseMX wheels that are produced specifically for VW by fifteen52. Available in two colors, frosted graphite and radiant silver, they have an MSRP of $315 each.

Expanding the Basecamp Appearance Package is exciting in and of itself, with more models equipped with features that lend itself to an overall rugged appeal. All things rugged is personified with this expansion! See what building upon perfection looks like!
